Alternate Solutions

Market research indicates two types of existing solutions. They are

Pill Dispenser Boxes This solution consists of multiple pill boxes, typically 7 or 31 and one has to put the tablets upfront into each of these boxes and then each day take the pills from the box corresponding to that day. While this solution is simple, the problem is that it requires taking out the pills from the original package and putting them into each of these boxes. For some reason, which as a guy I never understood (even though it's supposed to be for cleanliness), my wife doesn't touch the pills and takes all kinds of efforts to put them into her mouth and swallow them without touching either her hand or the tongue. So, for people who don't like touching the pills by hand, this is probably not a good solution. Further, some people need to take different tablets each day. So, either one has to buy several sets of these boxes or mix them all into one box. Neither of them seemed like a good solution to me.

Pill Timers This solution is based on some type of digital timers. In one solution, there is a small digital cap that allows users to reset each time they consume a tablet. That would provide the time since the last time a tablet was taken. Other solutions included alarms, digital clocks and computer programs. Some of these solutions are useful to a certain type of people, they are also a bit expensive. And when multiple medication is involved, the timers might get confusing.

Only solutions that included any type of alarm can actually remind the patient about taking the pill. Rest all solutions only indicate whether the patient has already taken the tablet for the day (and some even AM/PM) or not. Being a simple and non-digital solution, DidMed™ falls under the later category.
